5th Ave. Community Garden

726 NE 5th Ave Camas, WA

Project Goals

The goal of this community garden project is to create equitable opportunities for food access, education, and community space in the downtown area of Camas. Participants will be able to rent a bed for the growing season (March-December) and will have to reapply each year. In addition we are hoping to utilize underutilized spaces and create curb appeal by offering a space full of life.

The 5th Ave Community Garden will be managed and run by EatWell Camas board of directors and volunteer staff. The Garden is in partnership with LiveWell Camas and we will rely on our LiveWell Staff + community volunteers for maintenance and management during the off season.

We will be working on making the garden as sustainable as possible. These practices will include: partnering with Clark County master gardeners in order to set up compost sites in an easy and maintainable way. We will be a pesticide free garden space, using growing practices that will help to attract beneficial insects, bees, and butterflies. Our watering plan will include learning new ways to grow with less water, helping to educate the garden community about these practices and do our best to help our gardens harness the powers of permaculture practices.

Our board is currently working on a plan for donating excess food through LiveWell Camas free produce pick up, the Treasure House, and potential partnerships with the Camas Farmers Market.
